MENTORSHIP PROGRAM for Young Graduates and Professionals
Empowering Women through Advanced Academic, Professional, and Personal Guidance
Program Goal
WAEPA’s Mentorship Program aims to foster holistic growth among young women at an advanced academic and professional level by enhancing their research capabilities, leadership potential, emotional well-being, and professional competence. The program seeks to provide a structured support system where graduate female students, especially those from economically disadvantaged or socially marginalized backgrounds, can access academic guidance, emotional mentorship, and professional development opportunities. Through this initiative, WAEPA intends to empower graduate female students to become highly competent, confident, and socially responsible professionals and leaders, equipped with advanced research skills, strategic career planning, and strong emotional resilience.
Specific Areas of Mentorship Program
- Soft skill development: Interview, get-up, CV Writing, Application Preparation, Presentation Preparation, Spoken English, Self-confidence for facing interviews, Effective business communication skills Development (email, verbal) etc.
- Tender documents and Project proposal Preparation
- Entrepreneurship and Research methodology (Guidelines)
- EIA preparation for different Projects
- Computing skills development
Guidelines for Resource Persons for Delivering the Lectures on Mentorship Program
- Every section should be delivered with specific case studies.
- Lectures should be in participatory/interactive mode.
- Pre and post evaluation of the target of mentors should be prepared and conducted properly so that the increase in knowledge among the mentees can be assessed after the lecture. Short sessions should be included in the mentorship program to clarify the queries of the mentees who still lack adequate knowledge which was focused during the mentorship session.
- Each session should be followed by anonymous evaluation by the mentees to improve the mentorship program in future.
Logistic details of Mentorship Sessions
Duration: Mentorship sessions may be minimum of 2.5 hours’ duration
Schedule: The sessions may be held in weekends with schedule depending on the demand of most of the mentees
Mode: The sessions will be held online at present, but may be offered offline in future
Fees: May be 500 BDT per participant per session
Number of participants: Minimum of 30 participants per session
Activities of Convener
- Formation of Team (Co-Convenor: 2 in number, One Member Secretary)
- Selection of Focal Points in Different Departments
- Selection of Resource Persons
- Stipulating Overall Responsibilities of the Group
- Reviewing and approving the content of the mentorship program of different areas to be delivered by the resource persons
Activities of Focal Points
- Advocacy of Mentorship programs among graduates showing the outcome of the program so that the graduates of respective departments are attracted to the program and eager to enroll into the program. Their role is very critical for successful implementation of the mentorship program.
- Highlighting the upcoming mentorship sessions to be offered to prospective participants and enlist them.
- Assessing the needs of participants for potential areas of mentorship program and providing feedback to WAEPA Executive Committee for the programs to be included in the program in future.
Conveners and focal points will be rewarded by the executive committee of WAEPA for successful operation of mentorship program.
NB: This may be considered as the outline of mentorship programs for different streams (Architects, Engineers and Planners).
